Take It To-Go!
Bama Dining has introduced ReusePass, a reusable to-go container program designed to make dining on the go more convenient!
With ReusePass, students, faculty, and staff can take meals to go in reusable containers at participating campus dining locations. The program is easy:
- Check out a reusable container.
- Enjoy your meal!
- Return the container to a designated campus return location so it can be washed, sanitized and reused.

To sign up, simply go to app.reusepass.com and enter the requested information.

Please note that this program is not designed for taking leftovers or seconds, but rather for taking your entire meal to eat elsewhere. If you are dining in and plan to take a meal to-go at the same time, a guest meal or another form of payment will need to be used for the second meal.
Misuse of the program may result in loss of privileges.
What is ReusePass?
ReusePass is a program for reusable to-go containers. Every patron who signed up receives a personal ReusePass QR code, which is scanned when checking out a reusable container. Each container also has its own QR code, allowing patrons to track what they have checked out and when it is due back.
Think of it like checking out a library book, but instead of a book, you are checking out a reusable container for your meal!

Students will need to sign up to receive a personal ReusePass QR code that they can add to their mobile phone wallet.
Scan your ReusePass QR code at checkout
When you want to get your food to go at a participating dining location, tell the cashier and use your ReusePass QR code to scan at entry to check out a reusable container.
Enjoy your meal on the go
Take your meal with you in a reusable to-go container.
Return the container
Containers should be returned to a designated return location (Lakeside, Burke, or Fresh Food dining halls) on campus within the return window. ReusePass containers are due back within three days after checkout.
Reuse again
Returned containers are collected, washed, sanitized, and placed back into circulation for future use.
Included With Your Meal Plan
ReusePass is available as part of the dining hall experience. Guests will be able to use one standard meal swipe to dine on the go with a reusable container at participating locations. For patrons without a meal plan, simply pay the door price with a credit card, or other accepted campus tenders, and then use your personal ReusePass QR code at the register.

- Lakeside Dining Hall
- Burke Dining Hall
What does ReusePass cost?
ReusePass is free to sign up for and use for all students, faculty, and staff. To avoid a charge, to-go boxes must be returned within three days of checkout. Boxes that are not returned within the three-day window will result in a $5 charge from Dining Services to your billing account with Student Account Services. You will receive an email notifying you of these charges from dining@ua.edu. It is your responsibility to pay these charges before the next billing cycle to prevent any late fees. Dining Services cannot waive late fees. Exceptions will not be made for containers returned after the due date.

ReusePass makes it easy to take your meal with you when you are on the go. Whether you are heading to class, studying between commitments, or grabbing a meal before your next activity, reusable to-go containers give you an easy way to enjoy dining hall meals outside of the dining hall, with the added benefit of helping reduce single-use waste across campus.

Reusable containers are not microwaveable. We have introduced RFID technology into the tracking process to improve the program. If you need to reheat food, please empty the food into a microwaveable container.
