ReusePass Reusable To-Go Containers

Coming this Fall

Starting in August, Bama Dining will introduce ReusePass, a resuable to-go container program designed to make dining on the go more convenient and more sustainable.

With ReusePass, students will be able to get meals to go in reusable containers at participating campus dining locations. The program is simple:

  1. Check out a reusable container.
  2. Enjoy your meal!
  3. Return the container to a designated campus return location so it can be washed, sanitized and reused.

Convenient, sustainable and built for dining on the go!

What is ReusePass?

ReusePass is a program for reusable to-go containers. Every student who signed up receives a personal ReusePass QR code, which is scanned when checking out a reusable container. Each container also has its own QR code, allowing students to track what they have checked out and when it’s due back.

Think of it like checking out a library book but instead of a book, you are checking out a reusable container for your meal!

  1. Sign up for ReusePass

When the program launches, students will be able to sign up and receive a personal ReusePass QR code.

  2. Scan your ReusePass QR code at checkout

When getting food to go at a participating dining location, students will have their ReusePass QR code scanned to check out a reusable container.

  3. Enjoy your meal on the go

Take your meal with you in a reusable to-go container.

  4. Return the container

Containers should be returned to a designated return location on campus within the return window. ReusePass notes that containers and generally due back within three days after checkout, though campus-specific policies may vary.

  5. Reuse again

Returned containers are collected, washed, sanitized and placed back into circulation for future use.

Included With Your Meal Plan

ReusePass will be available as part of the student dining experience. Students will be able to use one standard meal swipe to dine on the go with a reusable container at participating locations. No additional subscription is needed to use ReusePass with a meal plan.

Why Reuse?

ReusePass makes it easy to take your meal with you when you are on the go. Whether you are heading to class, studying between commitments, or grabbing a meal before your next activity, reusable to-go containers give you an easy way to enjoy dining hall meals outside of the dining hall, with the added benefit of helping reduce single-use waste across campus.

Where Will ReusePass Be Available?

ReusePass reusable to-go containers are expected to be available beginning in August at participating locations, including:

  • Fresh Food Co.
  • Lakeside Dining Hall
  • Burke Dining Hall

Additional program details, return locations and sign-up instructions will be shared close to launch

What does ReusePass cost?

ReusePass is free to sign up for and use for all students, faculty and staff. To avoid a charge, to-go boxes must be returned within three days of checkout. Boxes that are not returned within the three-day window will result in a $5 charge to your myBama account.
